5K to Kensington Market
I ran up to the Latin American food court and had a delicious chicken in red mole sauce served as street food. Then I had an iced Americano at Ideal Coffee and then I completed the 34 minutes. The first bit was hell as everything was sore and I had no pep but after the nourishment I was great and didn't have any stomach issues. To be repeated!

5K without Thunder
Mrs. MM was up early to do the Toronto Women's Half in the park. I'm off shortly to retrieve her after going 5K myself in under 32 minutes with an average HR of 147. I'm sore from yesterday and it felt hard and led to a brief nap. Or maybe that was the carby breakfast's fault!

11K in the Humidity
It wasn't sunny and therefore not too hot, but we did do a loop where the way back was a lot of uphill. 11K in 1:11 with an average HR of 148 and a peak of 164. Tired now but having brekkie at Hazel's Diner on Yonge.

Finally the Gym
Yesterday I finally used some free time at lunch to take my unopened gym bag over to the gym and I spent an hour there on the machines. I did about half legs and the other half upper body. Not quite as effective as with a trainer but it was worthwhile and I'm feeling it today. Yoga last night helped as well although some of the moves used muscles that I already had worked out so those did scream a bit.
This morning I was up early and thought of straight to work but since I'd already taken off two days I didn't want to risk not getting out at lunch (plus it is cooler first thing). I did 5K in 32 minutes but had a sore shin and stopped to stretch a couple of times. Overall I don't feel all that energetic in my short runs and when doing them I can't conceive of doing a longer run. Strangely when I'm doing a longer one it feels easier as I just surrender to the activity.

Another Struggle
I went before 8:30 but that already was a bit late, plus some beer and wine yesterday led to the usual result of a poor night's sleep. I thought of taking the day off, which I would have done had it not been a holiday Monday, but I headed out for 5K on my own. I mixed up the route somewhat by heading to and along Yonge for a bit, and the headed back with a couple of minute long walk breaks and a stretch break, so really it was the same as yesterday. Tomorrow I really should take off and it may rain anyway. I can't believe I did a half two weeks ago as that seems much too far for me now. But of course three races in four weekends is exactly why I'm tired, together with Saturday's long run. Plus the heat is always an adjustment.

5K Recovery
I fought it-and it got hot-but I did a 5K including a stretch break and a couple of walks in 32:50 (includes the walks but not the stretch break). Time now for my Starbucks patio iced coffee.

Saturday Long Run
I kicked off the long weekend with 14.5K in 1:34:13. Now having my breakfast beer and chicken club reward. I had thoughts of going farther but there is a half next weekend I could do so didn't want to overdo it.

Another Sluggish 5K
32:50 but got it done. I had an achy right knee and left achilles but it got better as I progressed. Now I need to get in some work outs too as those seem to have lapsed...

5K+ to Doctor
I started a series of pre-seasonal ragweed sensitivity injections and figured I could work that into my run, given that I had an early morning meeting. So I did about 5.4K in about 35 minutes with the first half uphill and the second half the reverse. I also stopped for a smoothie at Papaya Hut. Excellent!

Sporting Like 10K
I decided to not go my hardest but make sure I was under an hour so it wasn't a training run either. I did it in 57:35 with a negative split. Mrs. MM did 58:16 on Mother's Day. That is three races in four Sundays. And four in seven weekends. Thinking about the Whitby half in two Sundays...
Given that there were almost 25,000 participants it was really not too congested and went off very well. I was middle of the pack in the right corral but others don't go in the right one which screws things up for others. The finish was fine but the park was a bit nuts and we headed out fairly quickly to get home and showered.

5K More
I wasn't sure whether to run again today with the Sporting Life 10K coming up tomorrow but I did, taking it slowly in just under 33 minutes. I'm thinking of doing tomorrow as a slow long run and even extending it either before it starts or at the end. I don't want to race 10K in congested conditions and the week after a half.

5K Before Work
Yesterday was a quick trip to Montreal for a funeral. I decided driving there and back was too much for me and paying for last minute flights was a fortune. So I used 15,000 Aeroplan points and together with $160+ in taxes that got me there and back (including airport drop offs and pick ups at both ends). I came home with some chopped liver and onions and smoked meat from Snowdon Delicatessen. Yum! Although probably not the best fuel to prep for Sunday's Sporting Life 10K. Speaking of that upcoming event, it seems there will be four times the number of runners who did the Yonge Street 10K (myself included) three weeks back on an identical course. I fear the worst and am already thinking about running to the start and continuing to run from the finish, thereby forcing myself to slow down and take more than 60 minutes. I don't really want to be more than the hour mark but I think there may be just too many runners (and walkers) for the course to handle unless the corral system works perfectly.

Lunchtime 5K
I drove over to Leslieville to run with a friend. It was good to have a plan and we just beat the rain. We did a somewhat speedy 31 minutes. My left ankle/Achilles seems a bit sore from the race but isn’t deteriorating, It hurts until I get warmed up and then is fine. I had an average HR of 145 and peaked in the 160’s-seems normal for me.

Daylight Savings Time Saves the Day
With a business breakfast I didn't get in my recovery run today and my gym bag sat on the floor all day. No big deal as it was raining all morning. But after work I took the sore legs out for a 5K spin in 32 minutes and all was well. I stopped to stretch after 1K and also did a couple of walk breaks. I really should ice now, but the TV and some single malt beckon.

GoodLife Toronto Half
5K+
5.04K in 33 minutes while contemplating whether I can do the GoodLife half tomorrow in perfect conditions. I haven't trained sufficiently. Running buddies here at Starbucks are saying "no" other than the one who wants to do it.

Sluggish 5K
I just feel more sore than I've been and not that peppy but did do 5K in <33 minutes. Yoga last night seemed to help a bit. Maybe a longer run this weekend will help.

Bounce Back
I had volunteer work on Saturday and this time I didn't run to the hospital and I ended up not running Saturday. On Sunday I went but my shins were sore so I cut it short at 2.5K and walked it out. Today I ran a 5K with a couple of stretch and walk breaks and it was OK. I took it slowly in 33 minutes with an average HR of 146.
