Like a lake. Look at the Jaxson's parking lot last night. And the football game yesterday for the anthem.
Chronicling the initial journey from cardiac rehabilitation to a full marathon in September 2008 and then the new journey from surgery for prostate cancer to running races (as of January 23, 2011) once more!

No Power, Work and Sick!
It hasn't been the best first week. On day one, I received a call from the wife of a friend telling me that he had died while having a nap. I then worked steadily all the way until noon on Christmas Eve. Of course the almost six day power outage was a huge worry as well and, finally, I have been sick since Christmas Eve. I feel quite a bit better. While I got some runs in early on the last few days it has been strictly strolling. Pics from lunch on arrival (before I got the bad news call), from the patio and the pool.

Snowy Run with Yaltrax
5K in under 32 minutes and very hard work especially after seeing Les Miserables last night and being out late.

Brrrrrrrrrt
It is -24 with the wind chill and the snow is starting to fall-still, it was a very enjoyable 4 mile run in 42 minutes. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was my face and my eyelashes were good and frozen by the time we got inside. Not sure if the footing will permit tomorrow. More important, I have now over 5 million steps for the year!

Got It Done
It really is a hilly race. My Fitbit showed 61 floors from the race and that is a ton. I completed it in 1:09:10, which was a bit faster than two years ago, but slower than I was five years ago. All in all, and given the lack of training, I am very pleased. It was a good day with there being great footing and no wind. The hills weren't even quite as bad as I remember them! And I really do like eggnog. 😄

Egg Nog Jog?
Today I ran 5K in 32 minutes or so. It was cold and windy but it was fine. I have not run since last weekend even though I did two hour-long personal training sessions, one of which involved boxing. I do not know if I am up for tomorrow's hilly 10.8 km Egg Nog Jog-so just in case I don't head out there, I went today to pick up my shirt and bib. This year I ordered extra large and the shirt looks too big-oh well.
P.S. After trying it on I have concluded it is fine although a fairly scratchy material that requires a layer underneath.

Dreary but Warmer
I had a huge number of steps yesterday due to the run but also a lot of walking, so my legs were quite sore this morning. Still, I did get in 5K in 33 minutes, and will do some more walking as we head to the Buffalo Bills game later.

Four Miles Including Hoggs Hollow
We did 4 miles in under 42 minutes including the hill. I descended fine and ran up part of it. Yesterday I just the same distance but without the hill. It was very icy and today still was icy. Got to be careful out there!

Descending Over Southern Ontario
Easy flight and free with British Airways points (in turn obtained from Royal Bank Avion VISA card).
Midair Post!
I bought 90 minutes of Internet time for $7.00. Seems reasonable. Must be over Arkansas or Oklahoma now. About to have snack including gingerbread cake from last night

At the Dallas Symphony
We are at intermission. First, there was a special piece composed for the anniversary of the assassination. It was called the world is very different now by Conrad Tao. Then there was concerto in Dminor for violin and Orchestra, Opus 47 by Sibelius with Joshua Bell. After intermission there is a brief second JFK tribute and then Beethoven's Eroica. The concert hall is stunning
