Chronicling the initial journey from cardiac rehabilitation to a full marathon in September 2008 and then the new journey from surgery for prostate cancer to running races (as of January 23, 2011) once more!

The Garden
And after dropping the iPad and trying to figure out what direction to point the damn thing, he it is.
5K Recovery Run
Really it was way faster than last night as it wasn't as hilly and it was much cooler (although still hot) but at least 5K more are in the books in 31:45. Sitting enjoying the front garden to cool off now.

Nice Medal
Other than the guy who was down close to the finish-and didn't look good at all-it was not bad. I hope he is OK.
Done
Not sure of time. Really a slow training run and now waiting for massage. I'm thinking about 57 minutes.
Pre-Race Jitters
Not that I'm going to race it but they are saying it is hot and hilly so walking and stopping at the three water stations is a good idea. Agreed and going to start in the last wave of 50+ minutes. I've been under that but not today.

5K Before Work
I still felt a bit under the weather but had no trouble getting in an early 5K in 32:30. It was cool but still bright facing the sun so the shades were required even at 7:30. It is supposed to warm up again so I'm not sure about the conditions for Thursday evening's Angus Glen 5 Miler. I guess I can always take it slow. It is supposed to be hilly too.

What a Difference a Day Makes
A bit of an upset stomach so long run scrapped. Very slow 5K in 34:45 including walk breaks.

M&M's!
An enjoyable day. Very unique and great weather. And an excellent cause-Hope Air flies patients and their families who live far away from specialists to the big cities where they need to go. A six year old who is being treated for a brain tumour is one of those patients and her mother spoke before the run. They come weekly from New Liskeard.
Finished
29:46 so slower than last week. Too many distractions! Mrs. MM was faster. The juniorettes did it and am vert proud of them.

Three Day Heat Wave Finally Over
I didn't run but did a workout and yoga. Today I did 5k before work and felt surprisingly sluggish with my knee and Achilles hurting a bit. We will see how tomorrow goes at the Toronto Pearson 5K Airport Runway Run! Should be interesting.

Too Hot Again
13.5K in 96 minutes. I walked a fair bit. Guess doing this on top of 9K last night was too much. 5K Prostate Cancer Canada Father's Day Run at 10:30am also will be hot. Oh well.
One More
There are parts of the Don run that are gorgeous and other parts where the expressway is too close. This is my favourite spot.
12 Years
And on the twelfth anniversary of my near fatal heart attack and arrest, we head out now for a long run along the Don to finish downtown where I left my car, very close to where I was treated. It no longer seems real.

Run for My Dinner
I'm going to again head south from work to the lake and west, this time to Barque Smokehouse on ROncesvalles-photos to come once I leave and get there.

Life is Good
8K to Lunch at The Drake
It is sunny but not too hot. I headed out without knowing where I'd go and ended up heading past the Rogers Centre where there is an early afternoon Blue Jays game today to the trail along the lake. I headed west past Ontario Place and then cut north west of the Canadian National Exhibition grounds, north on Dunn and into Parkdale. I ran right past the big windmill and then took a photo of it later as I headed north on Dunn. At the 8K mark I hit The Drake so did a bit of a cool down before deciding to sit in the shade on their patio. There is terrible traffic today but I still think I will streetcar back. I think 3K or so after their all day breakfast would be pushing it. 8K in 53:23 with an average HR of 140 and 692 calories. A very slow first mile lap (11:40 with all the congestion) but then more ike 10:40 with the straightaway along the Waterfront trail at under 10:00.

Father's Day 2012
It came early! Now I have a new spot to rest my sore muscles after a run. The old stuff was 25+ years old!

Graph with Race Results
I've now done 40 of them since May 2007. They're all listed online but this graph goes back only so far.
