5K Starting in the Dark

The days are really short and to get one in before work requires starting in darkness. Not my favourite but now that it is done I'm glad I don't have to drag my stuff to work in the hope I get one in at lunch. 33 minutes with an average HR of 141. Last night I attended a lecture at Toronto Rehab which cited data showing that the exercise that I do dramatically improves my odds of not having another cardiac event but at the same time it showed that having a sedentary job was even more impactful in the opposite way. Even working in a standing position is considered very helpful so the take away is to have even minimal mobility as much as possible throughout the day including walks around the hallway once an hour and stretch breaks.

Blustery 5K

No run yesterday due to too much vino at dinner Saturday night so I made sure to go this morning. Did it in 33:33 and felt easy with an average HR of 142. I went on my home but still did the group route so that I ended at Starbucks and walked home with a coffee-rare for me to do that but the route is so rote I need anything to make things different and get motivated.

Now the Cold is Here

We had a really warm week where I did my hour long indoor training sessions but nothing outside. Too bad, as while this morning was sunny and clear, it was really cold and windy with a need for a hat and gloves. Still, 5K in 33 minutes followed by a warm cappuccino and a walk back home.

@MarkyMarkRuns: Leftwing "social justice" in 2012? @DrDawg @RJMcClelland https://t.co/guvlKrzt

I reallly ought not to run and get into Twitter fights at the same time, but I did complete an interrupted and distracted 5K this morning. Arrgghh.

Sunny Crisp 5K

I was going to run the 10K+ to work but have a call at 9am and didn't feel like running with a backpack for a change of clothes. So I did a 5K neighbourhood route (different than the norm) in a slow 34:40 but low 142 average HR and felt great. That is after two tough hour long training sessions yesterday and Tuesday together with Wednesday's run and evening yoga and stretch hour. Terrible eating yesterday due to a bake sale at work, but back on track today!

Back into the Normal Fall Cold

I think the shorts are put away for good and today was a day for pants, a jacket, gloves and a headband. I prefer it to the heat and humidity of summer and enjoyed my 5K in 33:41 with an average HR of 140.

5.5K and not a Half

We were out late seeing the ballet Alice and it was storming before bed so decided not to set an alarm. By the time we were up it was too late so it's a DNS! But we went out for a pleasant sunny and warm 36 minutes. Had it been a half I would have been too warm in my long sleeved shirt and t shirt on top of it.

Pre-half 30 Minutes

The Downsview half is on tomorrow is good weather so no reason not to do it. Today I did 4.5K in 30 minutes.

Post-Run Touring

View down on Logan Square, Independence Hall and Liberty Bell.

Last Couple-Different Angles

Rocky in the sun now. Nice run!

More Philly

Art Museum, Rocky Statue and River and then back to Logan Square and fountain.

Philly Photos

The Fountain in Logan Square where I was staying and the Rodin Museum. Statue of Washington too?

Philadelphia 5K

Here on business. Had a great dinner at the Four Seasons last night but a big meal before bed including (just one glass of) wine doesn't make for a good sleep. So since I was up before 6 and don't have my first meeting before 8 I headed out for a 5K along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway starting at Logan Square. I passed the art museum including the statue or Rocky and watched boaters along the river. A spectacular run! Photos later with Wi-Fi.

One Hour Through Somerville and Cambridge

It was a gorgeous morning. I was still full from a delicious dinner at la Campania in Waltham after some meetings at my alma mater so the five miles or so did me good. We ran through Davis Square, Porter Square and of course Harvard Square and Harvard Yard and then on to Brattle Square in search of Ten Tables where we are eating tonight with "The Boyfriend." Once we found it we headed back. Now I'm told I must get a haircut in order to be presentable.
